  18. A Visual Display of a Typical 9th Grade Schedule

  19. Key Points in Course Selection • Periods 10/11 and 12/13 (after lunch) should allow for: • A high interest elective such as music, art, dance, career-tech, computers, creative writing, physical education options, health.) This fifth or sixth period class changes at the semester. • The remaining period should be world language, reading support, academic support or directed study.

  20. Key Points in Course Selection • We are responsible to ensure that students can read. If students are behind in reading, we will require contact with our Reading Specialist. • Course leveling depends on subject area: math from Day 1, science after quarter one, and English/World Cultures by year end.

  21. Key Points in Course Selection • All students who submit course selection sheets on time have the same chance of receiving their first choices. • Teams are determined largely by math courses and balancing factors. We want about the same number of students on each team.

  22. Key Points in Course Selection • Students selecting French I or German I should make an alternative selection for language. This is a budgetary issue. • Please call your middle school counselor if you have any questions. If you still have concerns, call us 356 – 4325 or look at the Guidance section of the Kennett High School website.
