  4. My personal teaching philosophy • I follow the Idealist perspective on the philosophy of education. • One of the main beliefs is that “Education is transformation: Ideas can change lives”. • My role as teacher: • To bring out that which is already in the student’s mind • I believe in moral education as a means of linking ideas to action • I see myself as a role model, so I act & speak accordingly • Methods of Instruction: • I plan to take an active part in students’ learning • Students are encouraged to discuss, analyze, synthesize & apply what they’ve read to contemporary society • I encourage my students to work in groups when appropriate • Next or Outline

  5. My teaching philosophy: continued • Curriculum: • Idealists place great importance on the study of classics • Idealists believe all contemporary problems have their roots in the past & can best be understood by examining how previous individuals dealt with them • Many idealists support a back-to-basics approach (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic) • Main Menu

  7. Why are rules needed? • One is to maintain an organized and structured classroom. • Another reason is that each child needs to feel safe and respected. • Rules can set the tone for a constructive and positive learning environment.
