  4. Indirect Objects & Indirect Object Pronouns The indirect object answers the question "To whom?", "For whom?" or "From whom?" Yo le di el suéter a Paula. I gave the sweater to Paula. To whom did I give the sweater? Paula!!! Paula is the indirect object! ¡OJO! Indirect objects most often refer to people and are joined to the verb by the preposition "A". Miguel le compróunosaretesaMaru. Miguel bought earrings for Maru. Yo le pedíayudaaldependiente. I asked for help from the salesman.

  5. Indirect Objects & Indirect Object Pronouns Just like with direct objects, we can take out the indirect object of the sentence and replace it with an indirect object pronoun. The indirect object pronouns are the equivalent of the English words "ME", "YOU", "HIM", "HER", "US" and "THEM". Indirect Object Pronouns ¡OJO! The 3rd person indirect object pronouns (le, les) are often used even when the indirect object is stated as a noun. Yolecompré los guantesa Silvia.

What do you notice about the location of the IO pronouns?

  9. Indirect Objects & Indirect Object Pronouns Some sentences have more than one verb... Yoquierocompraraquellablusa. Nosotrasvamos a pagar en efectivo. Tengoquevenderestoslibros. In these sentences, the indirect object pronoun can either go before the conjugated verb, or it can be attached to the end of the infinitive. Yotequierocomprar un regalo. I want to buy a gift for you. Yoquierocomprarte un regalo. Nosotraslevamos a pagar en efectivo. We’re going to pay him in cash. Nosotrasvamos a pagarle en efectivo. verbos pronombres
