  2. Welcome Parents! • Tonight we will discuss classroom procedures : • The subject s we will be learning and their materials. • Our students way to a safe and successful year. • The ways parents can be supportive of their children. • The expectations I have for you, the parent(s).

  3. Curriculum Goals • This year begins pre-algebra. • They will learn how to write a research paper. • They will learn how to compare world economies. • They will learn to recognize art movements . • In science they will study the laws of attraction after dissecting a frog. • All students will participate in the science fair. • Creative websites we like:www.mrpicassohead.comand • www.nga.gov/kids

  4. Calendar September 1 st Memorial Day (no school) September 2nd first day of school. September 18th permission slip deadline. September 26th class field trip to the Alligator Farm. September 20th applications for Court of the Fall Festival due in the guidance office.

  5. Classroom Policies Safety is our Focus • Be respectful. • Be responsible. • Follow directions. • Be punctual. • Be organized. • Be a self-starter. • Be prepared.

  6. Grading • Grades are based on accumulation of points. • Points are based on: • Class participation • Completion of assignments. • Major projects and exams. • Accuracy of subject matter. Grading Scale • 90-100% A • 80-89% B • 70-79% C • 60-69% D • 60%-0% F

  7. New Students • Translated class assignments, school information, schedules and classroom policies are available. School Supplies • Pencils • Notebook paper • 3 -1 inch 3-ring binders • Backpack • Ruler • Book covers • Agenda book • Set of colored pencils • Protractor • Blue pens

  8. School Policies Boss Elementary School expects each student to attend and be punctual to all their classes. All absences and late arrivals must be accompanied with a note from parent or guardian. Emergency procedures are explained in detail in the student hand book. Parents are encouraged to go over this book with their child. All emergency procedures will be practiced on school grounds. Thank you, for your attention.
