  3. HSD Background Database Consultants Australia (DCA) formed in 2003 DCA are the owners/creators of ConectingCare, Argus, tcm and KommuniCare DCA are responsible for analysis, design, development, hosting and database management for the HSD Development of the HSD commenced in 2004

  4. What is the Human Services Directory? The Human Services Directory (HSD) is a FREE on-line database that provides Practitioners and Service Providers with access to information about health, social and disability services in Victoria. The HSD is also the database of information accessed when clients/customers search for services on the Better Health Channel. http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/

  5. Who uses the HSD and what is it used for? GPs and Health Professionals use the HSD to search for services to refer their clients to. Nurse on Call, HealthSmart, Disability Online and other telephone and online advice services use the HSD to search for services. Members of the public access the information on the HSD via the Better Health Channel by searching for a service they are looking for.

  6. Why should I put my information on it? The HSD is easy to use and it’s FREE. If your information is not on the HSD, your service will not be seen by health practitioners, telephone advice services and potential clients who are using the HSD or the Better Health Channel.

  7. HSD contains information on: 25, 500+ Agencies 34, 900+ Sites 56, 000+ Services 28, 000+ Practitioners

  8. HSD Structure Information on the HSD is structured as shown in the diagram below.

  9. Accessing the HSD Professionals will access the HSD information through the HSD site. Clients/Consumers will access this same information from the Better Health Channel Website. This website accesses the exact same information as HSD, but the Better Health Channel Website is more appropriate for Clients.

  12. HSD Eligibility Criteria Criteria: Each Agency/practice must provide health, housing or community services to the Victorian Community.

  13. How to use the HSD to search for an Organisation, Service or Practitioner

  14. To search for an Organisation/Service/Practitioner click the ‘Search’ tab

  15. Enter the information you are looking for and click ‘Site Search’ or ‘Practitioner Search’ depending on weather you’re looking for an office site or a specific practitioner

  16. How to register your information on the HSD

  17. Click the ‘Register your service’ tab. Fill in all fields then select ‘Submit’

  18. Once you have submitted your registration you will see this screen. The HSD will then send you an email asking for more details about your service/organisation.

  19. Complete the ‘registration form’ attached to the email and attach a copy of your ABN Certificate and return it to the HSD

  20. HSD will then complete your registration and send you a confirmation email (like the one below)

  21. You will also be sent an email containing your login name and password for the HSD (like the one below)

  22. You can now log into the HSD and edit/update your details wherever you need to.

USER LOGINS There are two main types of HSD user accounts: Author / Contact This is the person HSD admin. contacts to update the site/s Approver This is usually an person of authority in the organization. The Approver is send an email should a contact make a change to the web listing. The change remains a “Pending Change” until the approver logs in to approve or reject the pending change There is a third type of user account: Multiple Agency login for both types of login holders is available to approved users Conditions apply

  25. To update your Agency Details select the ‘Agency Details’ tabThen select ‘edit details’

  26. Site and Service Information

  27. To update your Site information or Service information select the ‘Site List’ tab, click on the site you wish to edit.Then select ‘Site Info’ or ‘Services’ depending on what you would like to edit

  28. Practitioner Information

  29. To update your Practitioner information select the ‘Site List’ tab, click on the site you wish to edit.Then select ‘Practitioner’ and click ‘edit practitioner details’ or ‘add practitioner to site’

  30. Practitioner Privacy Settings When adding a Practitioner you will be able to select privacy settings for their information. There are three categories of Privacy Public. Hospital Subscribers (Hospital Information Systems) Authenticated Users Following data fields can have privacy settings : Name; Email Address; Ethnicity; Sex; Qualification; Phone No. Provider number is not visible to Public users of the HSD

  31. Keeping your Information accurate and up-to-date Recommendation: Make a reminder in your diary to remind yourself to update your information on the HSD regularly Update immediately for any change: e.g. New Practitioner joins your team In large organisations make this part of some ones role.

  32. Keeping your info up-to-date HSD users are able to login any time to update their information. To ensure information is kept up to date the HSD will send out reminders; 1st Reminder email 160 days after last update 2nd Reminder email Fax Reminder Letter Reminder Phone List. : HSD Admin Contacts you by phone

On receipt of email or other reminder method please action as follows: Login using your personal login name and password Click on “Click here to edit site details” make changes click on “Save” (Do this even if there are no changes to be made) Repeat this for each one of the “Services” and “Practitioners” When complete click on “Save” then “log out” View your information as a member of the public would see your information on the WEB by conducting a search or one of your services. Check that the information displays correctly. Login to make other adjustments if necessary
