Mobile HKIEd Library - Library Website for Mobile Devices Simply go to the Library home page on a mobile phone and you will automatically be redirected to the mobile platform where you will find iSearch and other mobile-friendly e-resources; as well as other essential services and information like online renewals New Library Mobile Platform http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk/m/

Access Services • Hong Kong Academic Library Link (HKALL) • Borrow 20 books from other UGC libraries for 30 days • Loan of Serials • Unbound journals: 3 hours • Bound journals: 3 days • Loan of Reference Collection • 1 day loan • Please approach the Information Counter • Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) • Online request • Sourced from other local or overseas libraries with service agreements

  9. All loaned items with a loan period of 14 days or more are subject to hold requests (original loan period will not be shortened) placed on them by another user. Email will be sent to you notifying the revised due date HKALL items may be recalled by users of owning Library Late return of recalled or held items will be treated as overdue and liable to a fine RECALL

  10. RENEW • Materials with loan period  14 days may be renewed three times • The new due date is calculated from the date of renewal • You cannot renew a checked-out item if : • A hold or a recall has been placed • The item is overdue • Maximum no. of renewals has been reached

  11. Students and staff can request loanable materials housed in Tai Po MMW Library to be sent to the Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Learning Commons for borrowing, or vice versa Only circulating/loanable materials can be requested for Inter-Campus Delivery. i.e. The material status must be available for loan Items cannot be requested for delivery within the same library unless the items are currently on loan. Inter-campus Delivery

  12. Library SMS Alert Service • Receive free SMS alert when a book is due in 3 days, overdue, recalled or ready to pick up • Register your Mobile Phone No. at Google Calendar • Register the SMS service at the Library web site Follow the instruction to register

Access to other Libraries • JULAC Card • Access and borrow materials from other 7 UGC libraries • Return of (non-overdue) books borrowed with JULAC cards • Please apply at the Circulation Counter • Institutional Reader Card • Access to partner libraries: HKSKH Ming Hua Theological College, HKAPA, HKSYU, HK Sports Institute, OUHK, Tung Wah College, U Macau and VTC • Borrow from the Circulation Counter

Book Recommendations • Academic Staff are welcome to recommend library materials • Books, media resources and serials • For the textbook/reading list of HKIEd programmes, please use the specific form: New books and media resources recommendation (for HKIEd Programmes Only) • Library homepage > Bookings & Forms > Library Forms • Specify the projected class size, location where the materials should be placed, e.g. Reserve Collection, TKOSC, etc. • Use the Online Recommendation Form • Library homepage > Bookings & Forms > Library Formshttps://apps.lib.ied.edu.hk/recomform/ • Contact Departmental Librarian for details http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk/research/services/commu.html

Place Materials in Reserve • Academic Staff can request to place library materials or personal copies of books in Library Reserve Collection or the Closed Reserve • Library homepage > Bookings & Forms > Library Forms > Access Services • Choice of Reserve location (7x24 Learning Centre on Tai Po Campus or the TKO Study Centre Learning Commons) and loan period (7-day loans or in-library use only) • Media items can also be put on reserve (7-day loans or in-library use only)

Library Privileges for Staff Dependants • Apply for Staff Dependant Card at HRO • Library privileges granted automatically • Borrow 15 items (Book: 30 days / Media: 14 days) • Staff responsible for any overdue, damage or loss of items • Parents should look after children <12 yr inside the library
