  15. Putting the records into our system • ELNET consortium’s technical specialist Anneli Sepp added the MARC records into our system

  16. Customizing • From Naxos, we had field 856 customized: =856 40$zConnect to Naxos Music Library$uhttp://ema.edu.ee=http://ema.naxosmusiclibrary.com/streamcat.asp?s=40970%2femanml02&item_code=SMCD5211 We decided to customize the records as much as possible to make them look like ordinary records in the catalogue.

  17. Fields we translated • 245 |h[electronic resource] / Helisalvestis • 511: Composers / Helilooja(d) • 538: Minimum system requirements.. • 856: |zConnect to Naxos Music Library • All the instruments from the field 5XX • All the functions of person’s we use in our catalogue (e.g. performer, composer..) • We decided to identify the records as sound recordings, not as electronic resources

  18. ALSO: unifying • Very different ways to present composer’s names, we tried to unify it • With the help of Global Update function we unified 210 performer’s and composer’s name

  19. Example of unifying process (with Global Update)

  20. Variants of one name

  21. Listing duplicates: Deleting NML records and adding links to the “real” records Minimizing the number of duplicates

  22. Results: From that kind of record... • =245 00$aMOZART :$bExsultate, jubilate / HAYDN: Symphony No. 104$h[electronic resource] • =246 30$aExsultate, jubilate / HAYDN: Symphony No. 104$h[electronic resource] • =260 \\$aHong Kong :$bNaxos Digital Services Ltd.,$c[2006] • =440 \0$aCBC. • =500 \\$aStreaming audio. • =506 \\$aAccess restricted to Ligip{232}a{232}asetav ainult EMTA arvutiv{228}orgus users. • =511 0\$aWORKS OF: Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus / Schubert, Franz. • =511 0\$aPERFORMERS: Labadie, Bernard (conductor) ; CBC Radio Orchestra ; Gauvin, Karina (soprano) • =538 \\$aMinimum system requirements: MS

  23. ...into this:

  24. Positive: 12830 recordings are searchable via OPAC Users can access more recordings than we have on the shelves easily and quickly The recordings are often found by the users, who don’t know how to search Negative: They can’t be searched with general rules (except authors) Sometimes the number of licences is increased and the account blocked Why all this?Positive and negative sides

  25. Usage statistics of NML in EAMTL April April May May June June July July 2006 2007 2006 2007 2006 2007 2006 2007
