Burden • βάρος – Baros – a weight anything pressing on one physically, burdensome – always suggest what is “heavy or burdensome” - Gal 6:2 • φορτίον – phortion –something carried – almost always used metaphorically – something carried without reference to its weight - Gal 6:5 Vines, Vincent’s Word Studies, Lexicon

Look To The Lord • “He has borne our griefs….the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” • Is 53:4-6 • “Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” - Matt 11:28 • laden - φορτίζω – phortizō – to load (akin to pherō/ phortion) load carried without reference to its weight, metaphorical • Cast your burdens on the Lord • Ps 55:22

What Weights Us Down? • Ps 68:19 – “Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits,” • Ps 23:5 – “My cup runs over” • 2 Cor 5:1-7 – “groan , earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven” • V. 4 - βάρος – Baros – actual weight • weight of desiring to be in heaven taking on the spiritual body/clothing • 1 John 5:1-5 – victory that overcomes
