  1. Project @ UH Accelerator Laboratory:effects of radiation on silicon detectors • Joint publications: • Effects of activation by proton irradiation on silicon particle detector electric characteristics,S. Väyrynen, J. Räisänen, P. Tikkanen, I.Kassamakov, and E. Tuominen,Journal of Applied Physics 106, 024908 (2009). • Breakdown of silicon particle detectors under proton irradiation,S. Väyrynen, J. Räisänen, I. Kassamakov, and E. Tuominen, Journal of Applied Physics 106, 104914 (2009).. • The effect of electric field on the radiation tolerance of Float Zone and Magnetic Czochralski silicon particle detectors – S. Väyrynen*, J. Räisänen, P. Tikkanen, J. Härkönen, E. Tuominen, E. Tuovinen, I. Kassamakov, submitted to Nucl. Instr. Meth. in Physics Research A.

  2. Transient Current Technique (TCT) measurement setup @ Helsinki • TCT is an outstanding method to characterize silicon detectors. • Kumpula TCT setup will remind the CERN RD39 cryogenic-TCT setup. • The core of the setup - LeCroy 3 Ghz Oscilloscope – operational in Helsinki. Timo Peltonen’s AutoCAD design of the TCT setup. First tests results @ Helsinki

  3. Tuition for students from the UH Physics Department Setup for testing LEDs used in stroboscopic SWLI utilizing TCT component (LeGroy & photodetector). Students attending Measurement Methods in Physics II course in the Helsinki clean room using CV/IV setup . White-light LED pulse.

  4. Plans for 2010 • Collaboration with UH Accelerator Laboratory: • The effect of electric field on the radiation tolerance of silicon particle detectors; • Vilnius RD39 project about on-beam lifetime detector characterization; • Sample irradiations. • TCT – sample measurements. • Teaching • UH Accelerator Laboratory. • ETLA.
