Why should I join ? • Speak up- This is your opportunity to share your ideas about Parklane • Stay informed- This is the best way to know what’s going on in your child’s school • Network- This is the best way to get to know other parents and teachers in the Parklane community • Be a Role Model- This is a great way to show your child that you care about their education
What is PTA? • Stands for Parent Teacher Association • Local parent group formally affiliated with state and National PTA • PTA has dozens of paid employees • Most National and State revenues come from local PTA dues • Paying dues is mandatory in order to cover the estimated $700 National dues and insurance
What is PTO? • Stands for Parent Teacher Organization • An Independent parent group • Has no official headquarters; there are no employees to pay. • Any dues or fees collected remain with Parklane ES instead of giving a portion to a state or National organization
Membership is Easy • We are signing parents and teachers up for $5 TODAY!! • We need officers too. If interested, please indicate that you’d like to nominate yourself or someone else on the PTO membership sheet
