Objectives • To regularly monitor progress of litigation in which state is a party • To improve efficiency in handling cases • To assess performance of GAs/LICs/OICs • To diagnose flaws to improve and strengthen systems • To reduce unnecessary litigation and multiplicity of litigation • To reduce cost of litigation

Classification of Litigation: • Criminal: (SC/HC) a. IPC b. Special /minor acts c. Law & Order d. Anti-corruption • Civil: a. Service matters - Appointment, salary & related - Transfer - Promotion - Disciplinary matters - Retiral benefits b. Others - Govt., Revenue related - Land & Property related - Others (consumer, election, contract etc) • Contempt: a. Criminal b. Civil • Arbitration
Courts concerned for monitoring litigation in LITES: • Supreme Court Criminal cases & Civil cases • High Court incl. Jaipur bench • All sub-ordinate courts ------------ Civil cases • All Tribunals • Arbitrators
LICs Responsibilities: • Vital link between Department & Justice Department • Collection & updation information • Facilitate for monitoring of red, orange & green cases • For updation: • Identify updation points for h/w • Staff for updation • Case file LITES sheet: ensure linkage as first page of the file with full available information • Filing a format hence a training
