  2. Foggy conditions in Clyde River sends us farther north to Pond Inlet for the night.

  3. We are flying on a 1940s-vintage DC-3 (a sweet ride by any measure!)

  4. The weather is fine here!

  5. Pond Inlet hunted 4 narwhal earlier in the day ... The head and tusk (actually a tooth) of one is shown here.

  6. The white is fat, the dark red (almost black!) is the whale meat.

  7. The landscape between Pond Inlet and Clyde River could not be more beautiful! If you like mountains and glaciers!

  8. The next day we head out to install two meteorological stations.

  10. We all carry loads from the fjord/river to the top of the mountain.

  11. Esa Piungituq carries the battery enclosure.

  12. Joelie Sanguya carries the data logger system.

  13. Strong man, Esa Qillaq, carries the heaviest load (the tower frame)!

  14. April Cheuvront and Matthew Sanguya carry the solar panels.

  15. Always on the lookout for polar bears!

  16. Installation begins.

  17. April Cheuvront and IgahSanguya gather heather to use cooking dinner.

  18. EsaQillaqand Kelly Elder catch and clean dinner.

  19. Narwhal vertebrae.

  20. A small polar bear is in the area … somewhere ...

  21. Blueberries and crowberries are ripe now.

  22. On to the Ailaktalik tower site. tower site.

  23. This time April carries the heavy batteries.

  24. Small hands were required for this job!

  25. As part of the data logger setup, Kelly is wrapped in cardboard to protect the computer from wind and rain.

  26. Everybody signs the data logger box.
