Tutankamaun’s Life Before Reign • King Tutankamaun’s name at birth- Tutankaton • Childhood- hunting, swimming, studying and playing board games. • He was eight or nine when he became Pharaoh. • After his father’s death- King Tut married his half-sister Ankhensenpaaton. • beliefs- began believing as his father did, which was the worship of one god, the Aton • A few years later- King Tut decided to bring back gods that were forbidden by Akhentan. • soon after- changed his name to Tutankamaun and his wife’s name to Ankhesennamun.

Tutankamaun’s Reigning • Since he was young while the old gods were being reinstated Aye, his vizier, probably made the decisions for him. • 10th year to reign- Egypt at war with the Hitites and King Tut died, during his confrontation. • After his death- Akhenaten took over throne because King Tut had not left any male heir. But, 4 years later he died as well. • Age at death- King Tut was 18 or 19 when he died.

King Tut’s Tomb • Famosity- King Tut is famous because of his tomb not because of what he accomplished in his life time, which was very little. • Discovery- King Tut’s tomb being found was a major discovery of the 19th century. November 4, 1922 in the valley of the kings by Howard Carter • The discovery made headlines around the world. • After Discovery- first tomb to be discovered and not be robbed for thousands of years. • Items- revealed a sophisticated lifestyle which many people could only dream of, and clues and knowledge toward how he lived his life.
