  2. District membership trends • In the last 5 years, from about 2680 members to 2460 • A decline of about 10%

  3. Why is Membership Growth Important? DO WE NEED NEW MEMBERS?

  4. Membership support • Each Group (1-13) has its own Regional Membership Coordinator who: • Provides support to the Club’s Membership Coordinator, President and members • Provides information – what’s worked in other Clubs and Districts to grow and retain members • Serves as a touch stone and sounding board • A resource in implementing new plans

  5. District 5300 Membership Goals for 2011-2012 • At Least Net One New Member Per Club • Minimum of 80% Retention Rate at Club Level • 1 New Club

  8. Recruitment competitions • Membership is every member’s job!

  9. New ideas! Rotary International is piloting 4 new membership plans – The outcomes will be evaluated during the next 3 years You can try it too!

  11. Satellite members • Clubs have “spin off” groups that meet independent of the Club’s main meeting • The Satellite meets w the main Club at least monthly • Good for rurals or specific-interest members

  12. Associate members • For “tentative” recruits • Provisional membership for a number of months or a year to see how Rotary “fits” • Not listed as a member until officially inducted • Dues structure can be flexible– it’s up to the Club to decide

  13. Corporate membership • Up to 4 employees of a business can share one membership • One must be senior-level in the business • Dues, voting privileges up to Club to decide

  14. Innovative/flexible Club • Standard rules of Rotary can be changed • Eg, the 4 monthly meetings might include one regular meeting, a service project, a social and a web meeting – or any combination • Eg, a Club for seniors or specific to a military base

  15. RETENTION – A GOOD SYMPTOM! TOP 5 REASONS WHY ROTARIANS LEAVE ROTARY: 1. Moved/Business Transfer 2. Business pressure • Health/Personal 4.Not Enough Value/Disinterest 5. Attendance Requirements
