Use The Website &/or Guide Book • Outlines Insurance Coverage • Outlines what activities can and cannot be done: Red, Yellow, Green. • Website provides approved Vendor’s list • Provides Sample forms • Certificate • Facility Use Permit • Hold Harmless • Waivers
Insurance Overview • General Liability $1M • When involved in an allowable PTA activity • The PTA insurance does not cover booster clubs or other organizations • Legally liable for Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD) • Not a medical policy • Directors and Officers Liability $1M • Duty of Loyalty – acting in good faith • Duty of Care – due diligence and prudence • Duty of Obedience – compliance with laws • Bonding Insurance $15,000 per limit • No Workers Comp for Volunteers
Reporting an Incident • Obtain the facts and remain objective • Avoid Defamation: Liable / Slander • Record all information & minutes • Beware of time constraints • PTA • Police • Insurance Carrier • Keep it Confidential & Objective • Need 4 copies: PTA and BB&T
