  2. What The battle of Shiloh was a series of three main battles in Sharpsville, Tennessee. Grant, a Union Commander, was holding ground well until the weather forced him and his army to set up camp and wait for General Buell’s reinforcements..

  3. What Continued.. Waiting and weak, Johnston’s Confederate army intended to strike them at Pittsburgh landing that night

  4. When this battle began April 6, 1862 early morning and lasted until night

  5. Where… South western Tennessee Sharpsville

  6. The Beginning of the Battle… …was near a small church on the west bank of the Tennessee River. The Confederates struck, wanting to drive the Union defenders away from the river and into the swamps of Owl Creek to the west, before Buell’s army arrived.

  7. Continued… Instead they fell northeast onto “the Hornet’s Nest”, a sunken road.

  8. Continued… General Johnston was killed by a stray bullet during the day. Beauregard, his second in command, decided not to go through with the assassination of the final Union army

  9. Ending The confederates had to retreat and had no hope in blocking the Union advance into northern Mississippi.
