  2. QPAC02: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT • Development of New External Course / Programme • Development of New Internal Course • Reviewing and Upgrading of Existing Course (Internal) • applicable to internal programme is Procedure B & C. SODS - Sharing Session

Terminologies: • Product – external or internal academic programme, courses, curriculum & syllabuses • Regulatory bodies – MOHE, MQA, JPS or other relevant regulatory bodies • Course – certificates, diplomas or degrees • Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) – appointed external / internal subject matter experts (academician or industrial expertise in relevant field) • Curriculum – a group of subjects offered in each course of study • Syllabus – an outline or content of a subject SODS - Sharing Session

  4. Purpose of Procedure: • Describes the process of developing new product (internal and / or external academic programmes, courses, curriculum & syllabus) SODS - Sharing Session

  5. Scope: • Cover the process in developing new course or programme (internal and external) • Cover the process of reviewing and upgrading of existing course (internal) • Did not cover the procedure of developing modules, syllabus or curriculum for short courses and training. SODS - Sharing Session

  6. B. Development of New Internal Course • Obtained Market survey & feedback • Present to Academic Development Meeting • Present to Academic Board • Design Curriculum & Syllabus • Obtain Approval from Academic Dev. Committee • Acknowledgement to Academic Board • Apply for License • Implement course SODS - Sharing Session

  7. C. Reviewing & Upgrading of Existing Course (Internal) • Obtain internal feedback (from SL, Advisors or QPAC13) or external feedback (MQA, or other regulatory bodies) • Internal feedback – continue to review syllabus / curriculum • Notify the syllabus changes using QFAC02A • Discuss the changes among CDC • Report the changes using QFAC02B • Submit to PD for verification • Summarized the changes in QFAC02C • MAJOR amendments shall be submitted for endorsement to MQA • MINOR amendments shall be forwarded for approval • Update QFAC04A if applicable SODS - Sharing Session

  8. 3. External feedback (MQA) – continue with approval • Report the changes using QFAC02B • Submit to PD for verification • Summarized the changes in QFAC02C • Update QFAC04A if applicable SODS - Sharing Session

  9. Major Changes: • Changes made involving • Syllabus content • Curriculum structure – subject code, credit hours, add/withdraw of subject from the structure, alteration in the semester offered SODS - Sharing Session

  10. Minor changes: • Changes in the followings; • References • Learning outcomes • Objectives of the subject • Contact hours • Assessment and marking percentages SODS - Sharing Session

  11. Safekeeping, recording & distribution • Refer to QPAC03 and QIAC44A for safekeeping, recording & distribution of new syllabus • Original syllabus shall be coded, stamped and recorded (into safekeeping and out of safekeeping) in QFAC03B SODS - Sharing Session
