  7. What do Ofsted think makes a good school? • Outcomes for Children and Learners • Quality of teaching and assessment • Personal development, behaviour and welfare • Effectiveness of leadership and management • EYFS • SMSC and safeguarding underpins them all

Headline Results 2017 RESULTS: % reaching Expected Standard (Age related) Reception: GLD=70%↑ (62%)PSC= 74%↓ (75%) KS1: Read= 67%↓ (68%) Write=50%↓ (64%)Maths = 69% ↑(68%) KS2: SATS Read = 63%↑ (57%) Write =70%↑ =(48%)SPaG=71%↑ (51%)Maths=54%↓ (54%) KS2: RWM Combined: 49% ↑(35%) Compared to Local authority: On Average attainment across all subjects: KS1 is 11% lower KS2 is 13% Compared to National: On Average attainment across all subjects: KS1 is 10% lower KS2 is 12% The 2017/18 School Improvement Plan (SIP) reflects the needs and challenges of the school

Progress When comparing averages: Leicestershire Belvoirdale children make better progress from KS1 to KS2 than other children in the local Authority in: Reading and Writing They do not in maths. Nationally: Children are within the expected progress measures when compared to others nationally

  13. If Ofsted assessed schools on results Belvoirdale would be successful because we are within the acceptable parameters of progress. Parameters are -5 to +5

Key Lines of Enquiry • We know that progress measures in maths will be down. • (29% did not make expected progress KS2 TA 2017) • Writing in KS1 could be stronger • Those children exceeding in EYFS or at the end of KS1- do we continue to challenge them in other years? • What happens to children’s progress in year 3, 4,5 ? • Are disadvantaged children closing the gap?

  15. 2017/18 SIP 2017/18 SIP has been based on results, key lines of enquiry and after consultation with staff, children, parents and governors and is still subject to change. Underpinned by three main things: Assessment, Creativity and Parental Engagement

Children, staff and governors fully subscribe to the school ethos, which is built on the principles of: • Dream it, Learn it, Live it. • Our aims are • To value and respect each other through our behaviour. • To practise and celebrate academic and creative achievements. • To celebrate the difference and cultural diversity of each human being. • To develop a broad vision of the wider world and foster love and care for the environment. • To help every child realise his or her full potential • To provide a learning environment which is welcoming, stimulating and nurturing and one which builds competence and confidence. • To build strong and purposeful links with our parents/carers and local community. • To provide all staff with a healthy environment in which to work and to create opportunities for their professional development. Friday 2.20-3.00pm EYFS: Own FAB on a Friday afternoon KS1: Art, Lego, Superhero, clay, cooking, forest school, drama games KS2: CookingCrafting,Computing,Art,Sport,Sewing/Textiles,Clay Play,Board Games,Woodwork, Drama, Behaviour Zone Underpinned by three main things: assessment, Creativity and parental engagement

  24. Teachers have changed year groups Children have ownership by creating their class name Keeps things fresh

  25. READING Parents/carers should be reading with their children every evening if possible. Reading records should be signed and returned to school each day. The class with the most reads will win the weekly reading trophy.

  26. Homework Homework is simplified and consistent across the school. For those more creative children and those who want to do a little more, , there will be a termly creative homework set by Mr Dax. Home work is given out on a Friday and collected in on a Wednesday. Homework is: Reading, Spelling and Times table practise. Parents can see the weekly test results in the back of the homework book.

  27. Belvoirdale Bullions Every half term, children can spend their hard earned bullions in the Belvoirdale Bullion Shop.

  28. -Massive progress this year! Well done! -I feel the school is now a “family” and my son feels part of a team. -Wonderful school-thank you to all of the staff! -As parents we are really happy that our son attends Belvoirdale -Excellent teaching, excellent support -Extra-curricular activities such as after school clubs have improved 100%
