  1. Changing Institutional Culture (Group 6 ) • Technology is really an adjunct rather than the most important part of the classroom • It is probably not possible to engage every student in a technologically robust experience given the practicalities of the College/University

  2. Changing Institutional Culture • Culture of the institution will dictate the advent of the use of technology • Resistance to the use of technology is based on instructor bias • Technology use should augment the learning experience, not drive it

  3. Changing Institutional Culture • Students are used to the technology but are also amenable to other more traditional styles of teaching • Varying learning styles may make the use of technology less “one size fits all” • Balance is the key

  4. Changing Institutional Culture • Technology use has to be grounded in what the institution is able to do – financial constraints, faculty expertise, etc. • Attrition in online programs is higher than in more traditional learning environments

  5. Changing Institutional Culture • Online learning is not necessarily the “cash cow” that people believe it is • Technology is an important adjunct and is useful but isn’t the panacea for higher education
