  1. Instructions This is the introduction slide for your Persuasive PowerPoint presentation. In this slide show, you will se examples of what your power point is supposed to look like as well as a rubric. Pay close attention and you will get a 100, guaranteed!

  2. Rubric (what I will be grading you on) Works cited page with 4 sources- 10 points each (40 points total) Citations in power point- 10 points each (40 total) Creativity of PowerPoint (use of transitions, neatness of presentation)- 20 points 100 total points!

  3. Details The persuasive power point needs to have AT LEAST 4 sources, 2 different sources for each topic in your thesis statement (4 total. Two for one topic and 2 for your second topic). You can have more than 4 sources. You can also have pictures, graphics, charts, tables, or anything you want to add to make your argument more convincing. Lastly, if you research using our library’s resources, then the works cited citation is already completed for you at the bottom of the article. All you have to do is copy and paste it to your Works Cited page. This is the ONLY thing you can copy and paste from the internet.

  4. The power point The next few slides will give you an idea of what I am looking for.

  5. Separate but equal? Should boys and girls be taught separately? (this is the title page)

  6. Have you ever been afraid to answer a question in class because there is a girl or boy in class that you like and you are afraid of getting the question wrong in front of them? Is there a class that you are interested in but are afraid to take because you are afraid of what “the guys” will think? Situations like these can be solved by teaching boys and girls separately. Boys and girls should be taught separately because boys and girls have different learning styles and separation will help students take more academic risks. (This is your introduction slide with thesis statement at the end)

  7. Boys and girls have different learning styles Boys and girls have biological and developmental differences that play a role in how they learn. For example, boys generally respond better to a teaching style that lets them have a physical response while girls tend to be more nervous about class discussions. (Piechura-Couture)--------This is your citation (This is your first supporting detail for your 1st topic)

  8. This slide is for your 2nd supporting detail for your 1st topic. You should have a new source for this one.

  9. Boys and girls will feel safe to take academic risks In single gender classrooms, boys and girls are more likely to take and excel in classes that they wouldn’t originally take due to gender stereotypes. For example, girls would be more likely to take physics and computer science classes while boys would be comfortable studying drama and art. (Piechura-Couture) (This is your 1st supporting detail for your 2nd topic. This SHOULD be a different source.)

  10. This is your 2nd supporting detail for your 2nd topic. Again, a different source. This slide should contain your 4th citation.

  11. This is your conclusion paragraph. Please restate your thesis statement and sum up your powerpoint.

  12. Works-cited PIechura-Couture, Kathy, and Galen Sherwin. "Should boys and girls be taught separately? About 400 co-ed public schools already offer some single-sex classes." New York Times Upfront 18 Nov. 2013: 22. General OneFile. Web. 14 Feb. 2014. You need 4 or more sources for your paper. Here is where you list your sources. Don’t forget, if you use the school library sources, the articles will have the citation for you at the end of the article. (Gale is the best research engine) “Bibme” under the Works Cited section of Destiny quest can help with citations as well.
