  3. Fall 2011 Applicant Pool(Freshmen) • Freshmen Applied – 25,829 • Freshmen Admitted – 15,988 (62%) • Freshmen Enrolled – 5,280 • Lowest Tier 2 Index Admitted – 3375 (780 ACT) Data as of 9/9/11

  4. Selection • Local Admission Area - All high schools from main portion of LA County and all of Ventura County - See local admission area map at: www.csun.edu/anr/impaction.html • a-g courses • GPA from 10th – 12th grade • SAT or ACT (no writing scores used)

  5. Selection – Freshmen • Out of area students need additional criteria • Higher Eligibility Index using GPA and Test Scores (Minimum 3200 w/SAT or 740 w/ACT) • Music majors – auditions required • Nursing majors must have RN completed Apply by Nov. 30 – no exceptions

  6. Selection – Freshmen • SAT or ACT scores required immediately after completing application (self reported scores are not acceptable) • Last test dates accepted – December

  7. Communication • Applicants will receive a letter informing them that we’ve received their application • Letter will include a user name and password with instructions to activate their MyNorthridgeportal account • Applicants should activate the MyNorthridge portal as soon as possible • Admitted students will receive an Admissions packet with information about registration, placement tests, and ‘what’s next’ • All other information will come through the MyNorthridgeportal and campus email

  8. Transcripts • Applicants must submit official transcripts once their senior year Fall semester grades are posted • Freshmen are admitted on self reported information • Failure to submit transcripts can delay admission • Final transcript must be submitted once graduation date is posted. Failure to do so will delay Financial Aid disbursement.

  9. Appeals • Applicants are discouraged from submitting appeals for a denied application. Appeals are seldom granted, however, students can submit appeals by doing the following: • Fax or mail a letter of appeal addressed to the Special Admissions Committee at California State University, Northridge.  The appeal letter should contain reasons as to why they believe an exception should be made for their late application or denial. • The appeal will be reviewed by the Special Admissions Committee and the response/decision with detailed information concerning the appeal will be mailed to the applicant.

  10. Impacted Majors • Accountancy • Finance • Financial Services option (Business Administration) Students will be admitted to the University as Pre- Accountancy, Finance, or Financial Services majors. Acceptance to the major will be determined by the GPA in prerequisite courses, and available spaces within the program.

  11. Early Start Program • If needed students should register for and take EPT / ELM as early as possible (no later than May) • Students must begin their remediation the summer before their fall enrollment at a CSU. • Communication with admitted students will continue throughout spring semester. • Students must notify campus of how they will complete their required ESP participation. • Students may complete ESP at Northridge, other CSUs, or CCCs.

  12. Important Dates • Application filing period: Oct. 1 - Nov. 30 – no exceptions • Counselor Institute – Oct. 28 • EPT / ELM taken by Spring – May 5 • Explore Northridge – April 14 • Notice of Intent to Register – May 1 • New Student Orientation (mandatory) – August
