Godliness and sensuality are mutually exclusive and those in the grasp of sensuality can never rise to godliness while in its sweaty grip. If we are to ‘discipline for the purpose of godliness’ we must begin with the discipline of purity.”- Kent Hughes

  4. Christ’s Observation of the Law– 27 How does society view the sin of adultery? The Bible describes the severity of murder and the severity of adultery as equal because they both require the death penalty.

  5. What lust is not: • Jesus is not talking about natural attraction. • He isn’t saying it’s wrong to be exposed to certain things (billboards, commercials etc.), and that we should completely isolate ourselves from exposure – this is impossible if we are not going to go into monastic thinking.

  7. Application: Jesus commands radical action - 5:29-30 Pray for purity Protect your eyes Protect your situation Protect others Be willing to be radical about this sin Confess quickly
