  1. Rackspace Lends Fanatical Support for AWS Managed Services By Trevor Jones and Beth Pariseau October 7, 2015 Summary Notes of Article: It is now official that Rackspace is supporting Amazon Web Services. It is available within the U.S. and is called Fanatical Support for AWS.

  2. Now, the company is offering its support service for both Microsoft and Amazon clouds. However, it’s not identical for both companies, since the support offered for AWS focuses more on apps built for scale-out, dynamic cloud infrastructure and services. Three more services were put in beta for AWS: Rackspace Compliance Assistance for PCI, Rackspace Managed Security and Rackspace Managed Cloud for Adobe Experience Manager. Two versions of Fanatical Support for AWS are available: Navigator and Aviator. Navigator lets users keep operational control of their AWS environment, but use the tools and support from Rackspace. Aviator is a fully managed version of Amazon Web Services. This partnership can benefit Rackspace by attracting more customers for their business, and keep the ones they have, since there are users who like to have everything in one place. Another factor that needs to be considered is pricing. Navigator’s pricing goes from $350/month for users spending $4K/month and above on AWS. For Aviator users can spend $2,250 to $30,000/month. The alliance between AWS and Rackspace benefits those who are interested in AWS and Rackspace’sbare metal servers. Also, smaller companies can benefit if they can’t afford AWS Enterprise support, since Rackspace Navigator starts at $300/month, and AWS Enterprise at $15,000/month. Rackspace used to be a direct competitor to AWS. However, they realized this partnership benefits both companies, and Rackspace can continue to partner with other platforms.
