  2. MAXON CIC Maxon CIC is one of the leaders among TWR (Two Way Radios) and Timing Signal Generators Manufacturers. Headquartered in Seoul Korea with its R&D and service center, the company also has established its sales office in UK and a factory and the 2nd R&D center in Thailand. Currently, there are more than 240 employees working for the company. Maxon CIC took the largest share of the Two Way Radios market in UK, and its products has been supplied to the royal family of UK.

  3. Telecommunication cost for Intl. Calls Mobility Needs Old legacy PBX Challenges • Since Maxon CIC was headquartered in Korea and its 2nd R&D in Thailand and the sales office in UK, the telecommunication costs for the call among its overseas offices was a big financial burden. • The company had the offices in Korea and Thailand connected with a leased VoIP gateway, HS Telian (ITSP). Most employees, however, preferred PSTN based calls. The ITSP system was causing too many technical problems, and the voice quality was not acceptable. • In the headquarter, there always had been big needs for mobile voice and data service. It was believed that the mobile data serve in the meeting rooms and R&D center would substantially improve work efficiency. Unfortunately, the current system did not provide any mobile solution. • Maxon CIC was using an old legacy PBX, which was purchased 6 years ago and in operation since then. The system needed an major upgrade.

OfficeServ 7400 and Media gateway WLAN based Mobility solution Gigabit Backbone and Security Solution Applications & Services Solution • MAXON CIC adopted OfficeServ 7400 and its Media gateway module (MGI) for solving one of their challenges, expensive international call costs. They chose MGI board of OfficeServ 7400 instead of the leased gateway from HS Telian while they were still using HS Telian’s VoIP service. • MAXON CIC adopted WLAN APs and WLAN phones of OfficeServ for mobile data and voice service in R&D center and sales office. • MAXON CIC adopted GSIM and GPLIM modules for their gigabit backbone network, which were connecting to existing network switches. • Also they adopted GWIM and used DMZ function, firewall instead of their old security solution and VPN of GWIM between HQ office and service center. • OfficeServ 7400 • OfficeServ Manager • OfficeServ IP Phone: ITP-5100 series • OfficeServ WLAN Solution: SMT-R2000 / 5000M

Decreased Telecommunication Cost Enhanced Network Security Results • Maxon CIC was able to cut 80% of its telecommunication cost for international calls by adopting the enhanced MGI module and qualified VoIP service of OfficServ 7400. • MAXON CIC improved their network security with DMZ function and firewall of GWIM for their web server and email server, which should be connected from outsides. • Especially firewall of OfficeServ 7400 could protect MAXON CIC’s network infra from malignant warm virus and secured their information assets from hacking on November of 2005. • Through VPN between service center and HQ, MAXON CIC secured their network environment more safely.

Enhanced Network Speed Mobilized Office Environment Results • Through gigabit backbone of OfficeServ 7400, MAXON CIC was able to improve its internal network speed by 10 times. • OfficeServ 7400 and its Mobile Office Solution enabled mobile access in every meeting rooms of sales Office and R&D center, which enormously improved the work efficiency of the employees. Samsung OfficeServ provided us safer and reasonably- priced network and communication environment. Results MAXON CIC has planned to replace its old dial modem based IP phones of Thailand office with OfficeServ IP Phones in order to save ITSP’s service fee and use free VoIP based international call through OfficeServ. By the end of 2006, MAXON CIC will also connect UK office’s system (other vendor’s IP enabled system) and HQ’s OfficeServ through VoIP for saving more International call fee.
