Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in OUTLINE • established in 1922, closed in 1950 and reestablished in 1989 • around 7000 Bachelor & 2000 Master students • over 250 PhD students • over 550 scholars and researches • 17 degree programs and over 350 courses offered in English • 150 partner universities around the world

  7. Situation • In 2001 there were 262 000 Disabled persons in LT; • 7,7 thousand with hearing • and 12,4 thousand with seeing disabilities; • about 7% of the population in Lithuania are recognized as disabled.

  8. Organizations • Social Department (Kaunas municipality): • Responsible for pay; • Coordinates other organizations; • Organize social work act. • Kaunas Panemunes House of older people(Kaunas municipality): • motto: “let’s give more for years” • Elderly people who need care.
