  4. High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek • One of the major themes of this epistle concerns the priesthood of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is a threefold definition of the priesthood: • A priest is taken from among men; this ensures that the priest’s actions will be motivated by love, compassion, and mercy • A priest is appointed by God to represent men before God • A priest accomplishes this representation by offering gifts and sacrifices for sins
