  4. BIG’s support for free advice services • Advice Plus • Improving Financial Confidence • Advice Services Fund (funded by CO) • Advice Services Transition Fund (funded by CO and BIG) • Open Programmes - particularly Reaching Communities

  5. Advice Services Transition Fund ’This is a serious investment from the Government and Big Lottery Fund to make sure that the most vulnerable in society are protected and the advice services sector is supported’ Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society 26th October 2012

Advice Services Transition Fund • £65 million funding available • Jointly funded by Cabinet Office and BIG • Grants of £50,000-£350,000 • Open to partnerships of not-for-profit advice providers • Providing free advice on welfare benefits, debt, housing or employment • All projects to be completed within 2 years

Advice Services Transition Fund Aims Not for profit advice organisations - • Develop new more effective ways of working • Work in partnership with other organisations in their area • Share expertise and knowledge • Provide a better service to the vulnerable people they help • Become more resilient and sustainable

  8. Advice Services Transition Fund Key dates: • 26th October 2012 – programme launch • 28th January 2013 – partnership applications submitted • 30th April 2013 – applicants informed of decision • 30th June 2013 –partnership agreements submitted • End of 2015 – all projects to be completed

  9. Advice Services Transition Fund Grants Awarded • 269 applications across England • 224 awards totalling £66,365,258 • In London 29 awards from 45 applications
