TECFA Faculté de Psychologie et des Sciences de l’Education, University of Geneva • TECFA: • Born in 89 within the department of education & psychology • Web-based master degree since 1993 • 25 people on various projects: CSCL, distance learning, MOOs, virtual campus, … TECFA’s interest in SEED: • A chance to work on synergies between collective, collaborative and constructivist pedgagogies • Sponsoring innovative local activities and disseminate them to a wider community • Research & development in main areas of expertise (CSCL and community systems) Conférence Bruxelles

Technology and learning • Lightweight portal technology to design CSCL activities • Emphasis on collaboration and communication • Use of portal technology • Catalogue of activity plans and software that function as building blocks : Modules of Community,Content, and Collaboration Management Systems (C3MS bricks), some developped by TECFA • Integrated communities of practice : Brick designers, activity designers, teachers, learners, parents Conférence Bruxelles

Example (1) “C3MS” bricks • Gathering and distribution of information in various forms • Collaborative construction of documents (case analysis, problem solving) and knowledge repositories. • Discussion and commentaries around productions (discuss on produced documents, develop evaluation criteria, exchange ideas, compare different points of view, connect different ideas) • Project management (construct work plans, share tasks, form groups, decide on a time – schedule, manage work-packages) • Different C3MS bricks are asssembled and configured to support teaching scenarios • C3MS portals provide integration and activity awareness tools Conférence Bruxelles
