Parent/Teacher Communication • Student Planners: Parents should read and sign the yellow box of their student’s homework planner daily. • Parents can contact their student’s teacher by: • Writing notes in the student planner or sending notes in the homework folder. • E-mailing. • Calling and/or leaving a message on the teacher’s voicemail. • Scheduling a conference.
Homework • Each student is provided with a daily homework planner. All homework and weekly spelling words are recorded in the homework planner. • Homework assignments usually consist of a reading, spelling, and/or math activity. All homework assignments reinforce class lessons or review second grade skills. • Spelling/Vocabulary lists and 19 Ways to Study Spelling
Grading Policy READING includes vocabulary tests, reading comprehension tests, & contracts (weekly assignments) MATHincludes chapter tests, checkpoint/quizzes, unit tests, and weekly classwork WRITING Linking to Concepts/Personal Response/Analyzing the Selection (Writing test) is one grade. Spelling and dictation are two grades. SCIENCE includes weekly classwork, performance (projects), and quizzes SOCIAL STUDIES Includes weekly classwork, performance (projects), and quizzes A= 90-100% B= 80-89% C= 70-79% D= 60-69% F= 59% and below

Behavior Expectations-PBS • The five areas for teacher observations and assessments are: Safe Cooperative Open-minded Principled Empathetic Demonstration of these expectations is necessary for participation on field trips.
