  5. How a seed grows • A seed needs a warm, moist place. • The seed needs water and food. • The embryo will push through the seed coat with the roots and stem.

  6. The Roots • The roots reach down into the ground or water to feed the seed.

  7. The roots act like a straw, absorbing nutrients and sending the food to the stem, leaves and flowers.

  8. The Stem

  9. The stem carries nutrients from the roots to the leaves.

  10. The Leaves
