  3. Global Compact A global partnership to... • catalyze private sector support to the goals of the UN, inclMDGs • promote & help businesses: • abide by principles of human and labour rights, • ensure environmental sustainability and • fight corruption.

  4. How private sector can contribute to sustainable human development • Adopt inclusive business models • Nurture business growth • Bring low cost and pro-poor innovations and products to the market • Support development projects • Invest in social entrepreneurship

  5. Ten principles of Global Compact Human rights: • Protect internationally proclaimed human rights; • Make sure business is not complicit in human rights abuses. Labour rights: • Uphold the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; • Eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labour; • Abolish child labour; • Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. Environment: • Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; • Promote greater environmental responsibility; • Encourage environmentally friendly technologies. Anti corruption: • Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
