  2. Ageing Population • Population of 413,609.00 • 85,000 persons over 60 years of age • By the year 2020 the percentage should reach 24% of the whole population Life Expectancy • 77 years for Males • 82 years for women

  3. Active Ageing • Increase the age of retirement from 61 to 65 years; • Life-long learning – evening courses in collaboration with Local Councils; • Skills training courses by the Employment and Training Corporation; • ICT Training

  4. Education • Universita tat-Tielet Eta’ was founded in 1993 • 650 participants annually • Around 11,000 in 15 years • Vast courses offered

  5. Day Centres • 14 day centres across Malta • Activities vary from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podologist, physical activities which consist of daily keep fit sessions, quizzes, crosswords, dominoes, chess and bingo • They annually organise "Jum Sports Ghall-Anzjani" where the elderly members meet together and participate in this event; • Visits by students are organized so as to exchange Elderly wisdom and youthful vitality
