  1. Purpose (problem): "The purpose of this experiment is to see the effect of ...(the IV)... on ...(the DV)." Scientific Method Title: Scientific

  2. Purpose continued: • The IV: the factor that I (the experimenter) change. • The DV: the factor that changes because I changed the IV. • Control? (The experiential design that you are comparing your results to) • Constants? (Constants are things that stay the same)

  3. Hypothesis: your own educated guess. "I think that the effect of the IV on the DV will be...   because... "

  4. Procedure: step by step numbered directions. If you followed a prescribed procedure, you can write "see attached", and then attach a copy. Data: Tables (with title), graphs (with title), charts (with title)

  5. Conclusion: Restate the purpose. Present a Conclusion and support it with the Data. Make a Validity Statement to explain possible areas of inaccuracy.

  6. REMEMBER!!! It is fine if you have demonstrated that your Hypothesis is incorrect, as long as your Conclusion is supported by your Data!!! NEVER change your Data to prove your Hypothesis or change your Hypothesis to match your Data!!!
