  1. Commissioning PhaseH. Feuchtgruber Commissioning Phase

  2. Overview and Constraints • Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) • Duration 110min. (formal end = 2nd orbit correction on day 12) • From ground disconnection to separation from launch vehicle • Orbit corrections (day 2, day 12) • Ground station coverage ~22h per day (few days) • Commissioning (spacecraft and instruments in parallel) - Telescope heating (days 0 - ~22) - Cryo Cover opening (~day 30, Telescope around 120K) - Ground stations: New Norcia (3h) + Kourou(2h), but probably not contiguous - Data rate limitations for Kourou <=150kbit/s real time - PACS to assist in Telescope - Startracker boresight calibration - ICC operations will be conducted primarily at MOC with online support by ICC@MPE Commissioning Phase

  3. Preparation Status (1) • Plan discussed and agreed within PACS ICC • First draft Plan delivered on 31-July-07 • Second draft in progress: • Separate specialist meetings to settle open issues: • Optimum bias determination and curing strategy of Ge:Ga detectors for FPG  • Optimum bias determination for bolometers for FPG (TBD) • FPG strategy (TBD) • Documentation via dedicated system level test procedures • Separate technical notes for open issues • Converted real-time procedures into MOIS (done for FDIR, SFT, Chopper; Grating on hold because of open SCR) Commissioning Phase

  4. Preparation Status (2) • Baseline operations are planned via MPS and MTL • All manual procedures must be delivered via the PACS User Manual and attached MOIS import files. • ftp://ftp.mpe.mpg.de/people/pacs/PACS_User_Manual/PACS_ME-UM-002_drft4r_User_Manual_binder.pdf  IUM update (MOIS conversion) towards Issue 1 in progress Commissioning Phase

  5. Detailed Contents (1) Commissioning Phase

  6. Detailed Contents (2) Cryo Cover Open Commissioning Phase

  7. Detailed Contents (3) • Total Volume: 159.0 hours (35.5 hours real time, 123.5 hours without ground contact) Commissioning Phase

  8. Next Steps and Open Work • Expect now feedback from HSC/Project on our commissioning phase plan input • Continue with details and completion strategy (who does what) and create small dedicated teams (calibrators, specialists, commanders) [Ge:Ga bias , bolometer bias and FPG teams] • Awaiting TN from project what PACS is expected to do for STR vs. Telescope alignment measurements • Convert SFT/IST scripts into Engineering Observations • Convert grating procedure into MOIS (SCR pending) • Release issue 1 of IUM with updated manual procedures • Get training on “Expert HSPOT” and MPS Commissioning Phase
