  2. My Expectations and Goals • To learn how to construct a web page that is functional and informative. • To develop a web page that students could successfully use in place of traditional methods. • To learn the “Ins” and “Outs” of web page construction.

Summary of My Project • My name is Stan Avila, I’m a fourth grade teacher at Junction Elementary School in Palo Cedro, California. • The lesson I developed is “Along The El CaminoReal”; Discovering California’s Missions. • My teacher’s home page. • Contact information: savila@shastalink.k12.ca.us

  4. Standards Addressed • California State Standards – Social Studies/History for fourth grade 4.2.8 • Instructional Objectives: 1. Students will visit each mission on the web. 2. Complete a mission database sheet. 3. Compile a Mission Book.

  7. Assessment and Rubric • Created a Five Point rubric 5 – Excellent work, all assignments completed 4 – All work completed adequately 3 – Majority of work completed, some errors 2 – Not all work completed, many errors 1 – Incomplete assignments , poor quality

  8. Internet Integration • Students will use the internet to visit various sites pertaining to the California Missions. • They will gather data about the missions and complete a variety of assignments.

  10. Lesson Plan Revision • Lesson 1 – Made the activity form easier to use • Lesson 2 – Created a database form • Lesson 6 – Had students work in groups

  11. Lesson Implementation • Used the computer lab and classroom computers • Students were apprehensive at first but gained confidence as they worked through the lessons. • Students with advanced skills were uses as tutors. • Additional time was given to complete lessons.

  12. Student Performance • Most students showed significant growth in understanding and knowledge of the subject. • Students completed related activities with varying degrees of success. • See chart

  15. How to use the internet as a resource and teaching tool. What resources are available to me as an educator. Developed skills that I can share with other educators. Lessons need to be specific and easy to understand. Let the students apply the knowledge they have acquired. Students are capable of more then we expect! What I Learned & Observations
