  1. Instructional Science Class 6th, 7th and 8th grade Teacher: Mrs. DeMerse Topics covered: Basic Science - Measurement and Scientific Method. Students will have opportunities to study many different areas of Science. At times during the year students may be working on different topics from each other depending on their grade level and or individual learning needs. Catastrophic Events: Storms, Volcanoes, and Earthquakes Basic Chemistry Microscopes Astronomy Sound and Light Cells and Heredity Motion, Forces and Energy Introduction to Matter and Interactions with Matter Environmental Science Students will learn through lab experiences, research, and reading strategies so that they gain not only content material but also study, reading, writing, and group cooperation skills which will aim to meet the individual needs of all learners in the classroom.

  2. Instructional Language Arts Class • Teacher: Mrs. DeMerse • Language Arts is class designed to meet the needs of struggling writers. Students in this class will primarily use curriculum and methods from Six Traits, Being a Writer and The Language Network. • Students will develop skills to address individual goals in the following areas: prewriting strategies sentence structure paragraphs essays narrative writing persuasive writing expository writing Students in the Instructional Language Arts Class will participate in weekly progress monitoring assessments according to their individual needs and IEP Goals.
