  1. Diving Into Geofencing What is geofencing? In simple words, genius fencing can be defined as, drawing boundaries or fencing based upon virtual parameters on a real geographic area. Here the fencing is virtual but the area that’s in consideration is real. Geofencing is a new concept which is gaining popularity due to its ample of opportunities and the new ways it can be used. There are two technologies which are used while making a geofencing. One is GPS and the other is RFID. 1. GPS: global positioning system or I short GPS is a global navigation satellite system which enables the user to know his or any other entity geo location and time information to a GPS receiver. It is a widely used technology which is incorporated into smartphones today.

  2. 2. RFID: radio frequency Identification or in short RFID uses an electromagnetic field to track any objects that have tag attached to it. These tags are important components of the system and they provide valuable information. It is one of the two technologies that are used in while creating a geofencing. With the above mentioned two technologies, geofencing is marked and there by it is used for various other purposes. The benefits of geofencing includes, 1. In child location services, geofencing is extremely useful. With geofencing, one can determine whether a child is leaving in a pre-designated area.

  3. 2. It also has use location sized firearms, as those firearms are allowed only in the area where firing is permitted. Any irregular action and it can send the authority a signal to know about the activity sending out various information. 3. It is heavily used in UAV (Unmanned aerial vehicle). It prevents the user to fly in an area which falls outside the geo-fencing and thus the UAV will override any command that falls outside the geofencing area.

  4. 4. In marketing, geofencing is gaining new importance and it can indeed help in sales and business. Nowadays the Geofencing marketing campaigns are becoming the new marketing tool which uses geofencing to promote a store or a product or any other object. For example, while a drive passes through a store (which is implementing it) can send a text or email about new product arrivals or offers or any other information. Whilst a user may not be interested at that point of time, though the later point of time, he or she may consider it. It has added benefits that notifications aren't getting sent to any random numbers but it is sent only to those people who are inside the geofencing area, thus making the marketing campaign more relevant.
