URJ University Lenore Mass First Vice Chair: Leadership Development/ Nominations
URJ University Each volunteer ambassador is asked to participate in three training/information sessions: • URJ 101 – a self-guided power point orientation to the Union for Reform Judaism in the 21st Century • Facilitator Training – a 1-hour webinar training in small group/peer-to-peer meeting facilitation basics • Topic-Area Information Sessions – highlighting URJ human, electronic, print and programmatic resources
URJ 101 – A Self-Guided Information Session Each participant will: • Have a working knowledge of the Union for Reform Judaism including its mission and purpose • Be familiar with the current structures of the URJ and how it supports and serves member congregations • Understand how lay leaders and professional staff collaborate to fulfill the mission of the URJ and support congregations
Facilitator Training: Small Group/Peer-to-Peer Meeting Facilitation Each participant will: • Be familiar with this particular approach to facilitating small group/peer-to-peer meetings • Have tools to help him/her engage in successful facilitation • Know his/her own strengths as well as areas where she/he needs to sharpen his/her skills
Topic-Area Information Sessions Each participant will: • Have a basic understanding of the depth and breadth of resources available through the URJ and its affiliates about a specific topic area • Be familiar with how to access resources whether person-to-person, electronic, print or programmatic
Topic-Area Information Sessions (cont.) Each participant will: • Know how to connect a congregational leader/congregant to the direct resources of the Union • Feel comfortable with his/her knowledge of the topic and resources in order to facilitate networking gatherings
