  2. Science Basics • General goals: • Achieving theoretical & practical know-how in modern chemistry, physics and biology at European and US Bachelor standards, as prerequisite for Master studies in science & technology • Duration: 2 years • Main action fields: • Set-up of on-line course program in collaboration with European and US University (under development with e.g. theUniversity of Basel- Switzerland, FIU - USA) • Set-up of laboratories for practical training purposes (standard level experiments) • int. post-graduation student exchange for a 2-year study period • Possible Financing Sources • Foundations (new laboratory equipment) • CH Universities (obsolete laboratory equipment and experimental setups) • SNF (Student exchanges)

  3. Advanced Studies • General goals: • Advanced theoretical & practical know-how in modern scientific fields of practical relevance • During the course, students may choose between starting up their own high tech enterprise or obtaining a PhD degree abroad • Duration: 3 years • Main action fields: • Set-up of on-line master course program in collaboration with European or US University (e.g. University of Basel- Switzerland, FIU - USA) • Set-up of dedicated laboratories for application oriented research in fields of local relevance, such as: • 3D printing • Modern water purification/desalination • Absorptive cooling • Industrial energy optimization • 1 year of int. R&D stay in Europe or US during 2nd year of master program • Financing: idem Science Basics Module

  4. Applied Research • General goals: • Learning platform for Master students • Developing technological skills & know-how as a prerequisite for local setup of companies with innovative technologies • Service platform (online) for R&D needs of existing local and regional industries • Main action fields: • 3D printing equipment & accessories • Equipment for surface characterization at mm, micron and sub-micron length scales (topology, rheology, chemical composition, mechanical properties) • Experimental set-up for energy efficiency testing of water desalination system components • Experimental set-up for testing of coolant absorption/desorption efficiency under controlled environmental conditions • Financing: • - Project financing organizations (KTI, NSF-USA, private foundations)
