In-Service Credits • In-service credits may be used by individual teachers or administrators toward qualification for advancement on the salary schedule as identified in the (Units A & B) School Committee/NTA contract. • By NTA contract, 6 in-service credits can be applied to each lane change. • In-service credits are approved and awarded through the Office of Teaching & Learning. • Teachers and administrators submit in-service credits to the Department of Human Resources when applying for advancement on the salary schedule.

  4. In-Service Credit Guidelines • Intensive in nature(similar to a graduate level of study) • Must include a substantive final project • Can be for face-to-face, blended, or online learning • 1 In-Service credit is equivalent to 15 hours of professional learning programming • In-Service credits are not available if graduate credit can be earned

In-Service Credit Application • Application includes: • Key goals • Learning activities and final project • Estimate and rationale of graduate credit equivalency • Syllabus • Application submitted to administrator (principal, department head or coordinator) for approval • Application then submitted by administrator to Teaching & Learning online • Assistant Superintendent for T&L approves applications with Academic Team before project begins • In-Service credits awarded when written confirmation of completion is submitted by project administrator to the Office of Teaching & Learning Application can be completed in online:Request for In-Service Credits 2014.

  6. 5 Steps to In-Service Credit • In-Service Credit application (including syllabus) submitted to administrator online • Application approved by Teaching & Learning and project facilitator and/o instructor notified In-Service learning commences… • Project facilitator and/or instructor prepares evidence of project completion, and submits Confirmation of Completion to T&L office • T&L sends Certificate of In-Service to participating teacher(s) and project facilitator and/or instructor • Project facilitator and/or instructor and teacher(s) use Certificate of In-Service Approval to apply to Human Resource for lane change
