  3. 21st Century Themes • Global Awareness • Financial, Economic, Business, Entrepreneurial Literacy • Civic Literacy • Health Literacy

  4. What It Looks Like?? • At your table group, discuss what Standard V should look like in each of its three elements (A, B, C). • Assign a facilitator/time keeper, recorder, & reporter in your group. You will have 15 minutes to discuss before presenting to the whole group.

  8. Evidence vs. Opinion • With an elbow partner: • Take approximately two minutes to discuss the characteristics of evidence & opinion from the following information.

  10. Language Analysis: • Making Evidence-Based Statements • With an elbow partner: • Review the following statements • Circle the words or phrases that imply opinion and/or are left open to interpretation • Rewrite statements and make them evidence based

Language Analysis: Making evidence based statements • During your lesson, some students had difficulty staying on task. • The lesson introduction was not sufficient. • Most students were distracted during the lesson. • While the students completed the activity, they appeared confused and distracted. • While you led a direct instruction segment of the lesson, I noticed that you used proximity to keep the two young girls from talking across the room. • The pacing of the lesson was slow, which allowed time for disruptive student behavior.

  12. Sample Post-Observation Dialogue • Read the Sample Post-Observation Conference Dialogue silently and then work in your table group to determine the rating using the NC Teacher Evaluation Rubric. Come to a consensus in your table group. Be prepared to share with whole group.
