  1. Mohammad PBUH • Cartoonists and movie makers portry him as a mean, violent man! • Intellects & historians all over the world sees him differently! • A Billion plus people bear witness to him as a Messenger of God with a message of peace and mercy to mankind! • Who is right?....

  2. Mohammad PBUH • Who is he? • What did he say? • What did people say about him? • What did the bible say about him?

  3. Who is he? • Born on 570 AC • Married at the age of 25 • Had 4 gaughters and 3 sons • Received 1st revelation at the age of 40 • Died at age of 63

  4. Who is he? • Before revelation…… • Father died before birth • Mother died during infancy • Raised by grandfather then unkle • Never lied or deceived anyone • Was known as the honest and the trustworthy

  5. Who is he? • After revelation…… • Lived in Mekkah for 13 years • Was insulted and tortured • Forced to migrate to Medinah • Went back to Mekkah 8 years later • Forgave all people who tortured him

  6. Who is he? • He preached a religion, founded a state, built a nation, laid down a moral code, initiated numerous social and political reforms • He established a powerful and dynamic society to practice and represent his teachings and completely revolutionized the worlds of human thought and behavior for all times to come. • He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on this earth.

  7. Who is he? During his short period of 23 years of Prophethood: • He changed the complete Arabian peninsula • From paganism and idolatry to SUBMISSION to one God • From tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion • From drunkenness and debauchery to sobriety and piety • From lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living • From utter bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence. Human history has never known such a complete transformation of a society or a place before or since – and IMAGINE all these unbelievable wonders in JUST OVER TWO DECADES.

  8. Who is he? • He is NOT GOD • Muhammad was nothing more or less than a human being. But he was a man with a noble mission, which was to unite humanity on the submission to ONE and ONLY GOD and to teach them the way to ideal and upright living based on the commands of God. • He always described himself as, 'A Servant and Messenger of God,' and so indeed every action of his proclaimed to be.

  9. Who is he? • Today after 14 centuries, the life and teachings of MUHAMMAD have survived without the slightest loss, alteration or interpolation. They offer the same undying hope for treating mankind's many illnesses, which they did when he was alive. • This is not a claim of Muhammad's followers but also the inescapable conclusion forced upon by a critical and unbiased history.

  10. Who is he? • Every detail of his private life and public utterances has been accurately documented and faithfully preserved to our day. The authenticities of the records are so preserved not only by the faithful followers but also even by his prejudiced critics. • Muhammad was a teacher, business man, social reformer, moral guide, administrator, faithful friend, devoted husband, and loving father - all in one.

  11. What did he say?

  12. What did he say about women? • Women are the twin halves of men. • The world and all things in it are valuable; but the most valuable thing in the world is a virtuous woman. • Whoever has a daughter and he does not bury her alive, does not insult her, and does not favor his son over her, God will enter him into Paradise.

  13. What did he say about women? • Whoever looks after two girls till they reach maturity, will be in the next world along with me, like my two fingers joining each other • Whoever does good to girls, it will be a curtain to him from hell-fire • The most perfect believers are the best in conduct and best of you are those who are best to their wives

  14. What did he say about women? • The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best among you to my family. Take care of women. You live with them under the auth of Allah (GOD) and you enjoyed them by the word of Allah.

  15. Animals • Fear God, in treating dumb animals and ride them when they are fit to be ridden and get off them when they are tired. • An adulteress passed by a dog at a well; and the dog was holding out his tongue from thirst, which was near killing him, and the woman drew off her boot, and tied it to the end of her garment, and drew water for the dog, and gave him to drink; and she was forgiven for that act • A woman was punished for a cat which she tied till it died from hunger. She gave the cat nothing to eat, nor did she set it at liberty so that it might find some food

  16. Charity • Prayers lighten the heart, and charity is proof of Faith and abstinence from sin is perfect splendor • When you speak, speak the truth; perform when you promise; discharge your trust; commit not fornication; be chaste; have no impure desires; withhold your hands from striking, and from taking that which is unlawful and bad.

  17. Cleanliness • God is pure and loves purity and cleanliness

  18. Compassion • "Do you think this woman will cast her own child into the fire?" Those present said, "No." Muhammad said, "Verily God is more compassionate on His creatures, than this woman on her own child • None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself. • He who eats his fill while his neighbor goes without food is not a believer.”

  19. Contenment • Riches are not from an abundance of worldly goods, but from a contented mind • When you see a person, who has been given more than you in money and beauty; then look to those who have been given less • Look to those inferior to yourselves, so that you may not hold God's benefits in contempt • God loves those who are content

  20. Self control • The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of self • The exercise of religious duty will not atone for the fault of an abusive tongue • That person is wise and sensible who subdues his carnal desires and hopes for rewards from God; and he is an ignorant man who follows his lustful appetites

  21. Self control • Powerful is not he who knocks the other down, indeed powerful is he who controls himself in a fit of anger

  22. Courtesy • Humility and courtesy are acts of piety • God has no mercy on one who has no mercy for others. • Allah does not judge according to your bodies and appearances but HE scans your hearts & looks into your deeds.

  23. Cultivation of land • There is no Muslim who plants a tree, or sows a field, then man or birds or beast eat from it, but it is charity for him • Whoever brings the dead land to life; that is cultivates waste land, for him is reward therein

  24. Duty of beleivers • Muhammad once said to Anas, "Son, if you are able, keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning, free from malice towards anyone;" then he said, "Oh! my son, this is one of my laws, and he who loves my laws verily loves me

  25. Forgiveness • Do not say, that if the people do good to us, we will do good to them; and if the people oppress us, we will oppress them; but determine that if people do you good, you will do good to them; and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them, rather, forgive them

  26. Gentleness • Verily, God is mild, and is fond of mildness, and He gives to the mild what he does not to the harsh. • Whoever has been given gentleness has been given a good portion, in this world and the next. • God is gentle and loves gentleness. • Verily you have two qualities which God and His Messenger love - fortitude and gentleness

  27. God’s kindness • If the unbeliever knew of the extent of the Lord's mercy, even he would not despair of Paradise. • God's kindness towards his creatures is more than a mother's towards her baby. • If you put your whole trust in God, as you ought, He most certainly will give you sustenance, as He does the birds; they come out hungry in the morning, but return full to their nests.

  28. Hospitality • He who believes in one God, and a future life, let him honor his guest. • Whoever believes in God and the Hereafter must respect his guest; and whoever believeth in God and the Hereafter must not incommode his neighbors, and a Muslim must speak only good words, otherwise remain silent.

  29. Kindness • Whoever is kind to GOD’s creatures, GOD is kind to him; therefore be kind to man on earth, whether good or bad; and being kind to the bad, is to withhold him from badness, thus in heaven you will be treated kindly

  30. Modesty • True modesty is the source of all virtues. • Modesty and chastity are part of the faith. • Meekness and modesty are two branches of Iman; and vain talking and embellishing are two branches of hypocrisy. • All kinds of modesty are best.

  31. Peace making • Shall I inform you of a better act than fasting, charity, and prayers? Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots.

  32. Truth • He is not of me who, when he speaks, speaks falsely; who, when he promises, breaks his promises; and who, when trust is reposed in him, fails in his trust. • Strive always to excel in virtue and truth. • Say what is true, although it may be bitter and displeasing to people.

  33. Security of Life In his last ceremony, the Prophet said: "Your lives and properties are forbidden to one another till you meet your Lord on the day of resurrection”. “Truly your blood, your property, and your honor are inviolable”. The Prophet also said about the non Muslim citizens of the Muslim state: "One who kills a non Muslim under covenant will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise, and he is my enemy”.

  34. Acquiring knowledge “Seeking knowledge is a must on every male and female” "Seek knowledge even though it be in China." “When a man dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three – an ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge or a righteous son who will pray for him.”

  35. Equality before Law “The nations that lived before you were destroyed by God because they punished the common man for their offenses and let their dignitaries go unpunished for their crimes; I swear by God that even if Fatima, my daughter, had committed this crime, I would have punished her"

  36. Equality of all races There is no preference of arab over non arab or non arab over an arab, or white over black or black over white All of you belongs to one single pair of a man and a woman

  37. Mohamed, the prophet • I am no more than a man; when I order you anything regarding religion, receive it; and when I order you anything about the affairs of the world, then I am nothing more than a man • Zaid, Muhammad's servant, said, "I served Muhammad ten years, and he never said 'Uff,' to me; and never said, 'Why did you do so?' and never said, 'Why did you not do so?'"

  38. Mohamed, the prophet • The best of persons in God's sight is the best amongst his friends; and the best of neighbors near God is the best person in his own neighborhood. • A Muslim who mixes with people and puts up with their inconveniences, is better than one who does not mix with them, and bear with patience.

  39. Mohamed, the prophet • God's pleasure is in a father's pleasure; and God's displeasure is in a father's displeasure. • He who wishes to enter Paradise at the best door must please his father and mother. • There is no child, a doer of good to his parents, who looked on them with kindness and affection, but God will grant with every look the rewards for an approved pilgrimage.

  40. What did people say about him?

  41. ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA “.... A mass of detail in the early sources show that he was an honest and upright man who had gained the respect and loyalty of others who were like-wise honest and upright men." (Vol. 12)

  42. GEORGE BERNARD SHAW • "If any religion had the chance of ruling over England, and Europe within the next hundred years, it could be Islam." • I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion, which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence, which can make itself appeal to every age. • I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Savior of Humanity."

  43. GEORGE BERNARD SHAW • "I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness • I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today.”(The Genuine Islam Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936.)

  44. MICHAEL H. HART • Ranked Mohammed first in the list, who contributed towards the benefit and uplift of mankind:"My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both thereligious and secular levels." • (M.H. Hart, THE 100: A RANKING OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS IN HISTORY, New York, 1978, p. 33)

  45. LAMAR TINE,the renowned historian, speaking on the essentials of human greatness wonders: "If greatness of purpose, smallness of means and astounding results are thethree criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad?

  46. La-Martine.. • The most famous men created arms, laws, and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. • This man moved not only armies, legislation, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the then inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls....

  47. La-Martine.. • His forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; • His endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death; • All these attest not to an imposture but to a firm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. • This dogma was two-fold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God; the former telling what God is, the latter telling what God is not.

  48. (Alphonse de Lamartine, HISTOIRE DE LA TURQUIE, Paris, 1854, Vol. II, pp 276-277) • Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images • The founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is MUHAMMAD. • As regards all the standards by which Human Greatness may be measured, we may well ask: IS THERE ANY MAN GREATER THAN HE?"

  49. EDWARD GIBBON and SIMON OCKLEY "'I BELIEVE IN ONE GOD, AND MOHAMMED, AN APOSTLE OF GOD' is the simple and invariable profession of Islam. The intellectual image of the Deity has never been degraded by any visible idol; the honor of the Prophet has nevertransgressed the measure of human virtues; and his living precepts have restrained the gratitude of his disciples within the bounds of reason and religion." (HISTORY OF THE SARACEN EMPIRES, London, 1870, p. 54)

  50. The famous poetess of India, SAROJINI NAIDU says: •  "It was the first religion that preached and practiced democracy; for, in the mosque, when the call for prayer is sounded and worshippers are gathered together, the democracy of Islam is embodied five times a day when the peasant and king kneel side by side and proclaim: 'God Alone is Great'... • I have been struck over and over again by this indivisible unity of Islam that makes man instinctively a brother"  (S.Naidu, IDEALS OF ISLAM, vide Speeches & Writings, Madras, 1918, p. 169)
