  3. Why was this book written • It was written in the era the discrimination was present • only a couple of years before the assassination of MLK (1968) • the book was written in 1961

Message for the Children • Be happy with yourself, you don’t need to change who you are to fit in with others • Treat others as you would like to them to treat you • even if someone looks different on the outside they are the same as you on the inside • Fashion trends are another thing that • children can discriminate against

Message for adults • Adults might still discriminate against others even if it’s not about race • They might discriminate based on gender, language, religion, fashion • Adults do not need to instill discrimination into there children • Some adults can take advantage of other adults just like Sylvester McMonkey McBean took advantage of the Sneetches.

  6. Favorite Quote • “They never will learn. No. You can’t teach a Sneetche” Sylvester McMonkey McBean • McBean thought that the Sneetches were never going to get along o work together, this has also happened in our country but as a country we proved everyone wrong. • People don’t discriminate that much anymore and try to get along or acknowledges everyone's differences.

Summarizing • the Sneetches is a group of people, who look the same beside one thing; the stars on the their bellies • The ones that have stars on their bellies think that they are better than the others, and they exclude the ones without the stars on their bellies • When everyone tried to be the same, they forgot who was who and it didn’t matter who had stars on their bellies or not… THEY WERE ALL THE SAME!!
