Background • Corporately run program since 2002 • Commence planning 18 months’ in advance • Feedback is used to improve each program and to ensure the program is meeting the needs of all involved
Rotations • Opportunity to work in three different areas across the department • Exposure to a wide variety of work and experiences • Graduates submit six preferences each rotation • Department of the Senate rotation available
Training Opportunities • Comprehensive Induction Program • Diploma of Government • Access to undertake their Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP) • Various Departmental specific training • Various Division specific training
Networking Opportunities • AGD Talking Heads Series • Graduate Portfolio Networking Event • APSC Graduate Event Series • Other Events • Departmental Sporting Competitions
Buddy and Mentor Program • Graduate Buddy Program • Graduate Mentor Program
Graduate Performance • Program for Performance Improvement (PPI) • Assessed against the APS Capabilities • A separate Performance Assessment for each rotation
End of Program • Advancement to APS Level 5 upon successful completion of the program • Legal Office and Policy Officer positions made available for graduates only to apply for • Secretaries Office position • Graduation Ceremony
Parliament of Australia Graduate Program • House of Representatives and Department of the Senate placements • Three month duration
