Groundwater Stewardship Committee Mission The Groundwater Stewardship Committee (GSC) will provide independent review, evaluation, input and technical support for a groundwater management planning effort to ensure that the Cadiz Water Conservation, Recovery and Storage Project (“the Project”) is designed and implemented according to best groundwater management practices and in a manner protecting the unique habitat of the Mojave Desert.

  10. However If pumping doesn’t meet the projections, only Cadiz will be hurt. We should, and the plans are, to monitor: Spring discharges Water levels, groundwater salinity, and land surface elevation as pumping proceeds.
  11. GSC concluded that: Average annual extraction of 50,000 AFY for 50 years is feasible. Monitoring, proposed action criteria, and mitigation elements are reasonable and should provide assurance from harm from the beneficial use of groundwater as proposed in the Project. Monitoring elements proposed should be adopted and incorporated into the groundwater management plan.
