  1. Big Brothers Big Sisters In-School Mentoring Share an hour… be a mentor “Your hour shared at school will brighten a day”

  2. Wisdom gives back… Big Brothers of Sarnia-Lambton has been in partnership with local school boards in providing this vital service to boys and girls across the county since 1994.

  3. Bounce to break your day… If children are to be successful in all areas of their lives, they must first have good self-esteem, goals and a sense of security and confidence. Children need to know they are important and valued. If children are failing in any of these areas, their academic achievement is bound to suffer as a result. Mentors can certainly make a difference in children’s lives by supporting and helping them to achieve good self-esteem and confidence.

  4. Draw your mind… The In-School Mentoring Program is a one-to-one relationship between an elementary school student and an adult volunteer. Mentors can be either men or women and they are from all walks of life. The volunteer is there to help encourage their mentee to feel good about themselves. The volunteer and student meet for one hour each week during school hours, at the child’s school for the duration of the school year.

  5. The Game…keep it fun It does not entail involvement on weekends, evenings or over school breaks. It is NOT a tutoring program but rather its goal is to help the child develop self-esteem to meet the challenges of both school and life.

  6. Sing it out loud…. The children referred are elementary school students, usually grades 3-5, who would benefit from a one-to one relationship with a caring adult. Both girls and boys are involved in this program, and are recommended for participation in the program by teachers and the school principal.

  7. Sharing through laughter.. In-School Mentors go through the same screening process as Big Brother volunteers, except there is no Policy & Casework interview. Call… give of your time.
