  2. WHO/WHAT - The Province of Reggio Emilia is… …a public body, local government between 45 local Municipalities of Reggio Emilia’s territory and Emilia-Romagna Region. In Italy we have 4 institutional levels: State, Region, Province and Municipality. The Province of Reggio Emilia represents over 500.000 inhabitants with administrative, political and coordinating competences. It plays administrative functions such as on secondary school and vocational training, roads and sustainable mobility, environmental awareness and agriculture.

  3. WHERE are we on the map? - Area: 2.291,67 kmq- Municipalities: 45- Inhabitants: 519.200- Unemployment rate tot people 24.238* man 10.024 and women 14.214; 28% immigrants * Font: Employment service of Province, 31/12/2011.

WHY - The role of the EU Department Born in the 2005 for willingness of the President Sonia Masini, the Department has the technical responsibility of the European policies and relations of the Province of Reggio Emilia, dealing with: Management and development of European projects Relations with the EU and International Institutions, organisations, etc. Organizations of events related to the European policies (the 9thMay celebration, participation to the Open Days, …) Management of the relations with the Twinned cities (Albacete – Spain; Enzkreis – Germany; Olomouc Region – Czech Republic) Support to President Sonia Masini in her role of 1st Vice-Chair of CIVEX (Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs) at the EU Committee of the Regions.
