  3. Purpose • Exert a little more control over our own future • Evaluate duties of staff to ensure that we are taking advantage of all opportunities • To process a large backlog of retrospective materials

  4. Purpose • Increase Public Service • Assess the implications of a “more electronic” fdlp • Share our findings with the Documents Community

  9. Preparation • Talked with Atifa • Administrative Support from Clemson • Administrative Support from USC • Communicated with GPO • Heads up to Marcive

  10. Preparation • Zero-based collection review • Evaluated documents in the collection • Identified unneeded items • Identified item numbers that have EL but are not listed as such

  12. Staffing • Evaluated staffing needs • Upgraded 3 LTA positions • Upgraded a Library Specialist • Completely rewrote planning stages

  13. Training • Reviewed all existing written procedures • Automated many procedures • Shared goals of identifying and checking in retrospective documents • Allowed staff to participate in establishing procedures for project

  14. Summary Purpose of the project re-focused • Investigate alternatives to using item numbers as a selection tool • Consult with GPO about print equivalents • Incorporate more tracking of staff implications

  15. Where we are right now • Poised on the edge of “de-selecting” a lot of tangible items • Trying to figure out how to assess • Waiting for the final MOU from GPO
