  2. First, Let’s review the subject pronouns! ¡Primero, Repasamos!

  3. Repaso: Subject Pronouns Yo = I Tú = you Él = he Ella = she Usted = you (formal) Nosotros/as = we Vosotros = you all Ellos = they Ellas = they Ustedes = you all (formal) What is a subject pronoun?

  4. Now, Let’s find out what an –AR verb is! ¿Qué es un verbo –AR?

  5. - AR verbs Verbs that end in –ar Por Ejemplo: andar, hablar, llegar, contestar These verbs forms are called infinitives. They have not been conjugated. No subject has been identified.

  6. OK, Now let’s learn how to conjugate –AR verbs ¡Aprendemos la regla para conjugar!

  7. To conjugate –ar verbs in the present tense… 1. Start with an infinitive verb 2. Take off the –ar 3. Then add the appropriate ending according to the subject.

  8. Endings Yo -o -amos Nosotros Tú -áis -as Vosotros Él, Ella, Ud. Ellos, Ellas, Uds. -an -a

  10. To say “I take” in Spanish • Start with tomar • Then drop the -ar tom ar 3. Then add the correct subject pronoun and ending. yo nosotros amos o tú as vosotros áis An Example! él ellos an ella a ellas uds. ud.

  11. Yo tomo apuntes en clase. I take notes in class. (I am taking notes…)

  12. To say “He washes” in Spanish • Start with lavar • Then drop the -ar lav ar 3. Then add the correct subject pronoun and ending. yo nosotros amos o tú vosotros as áis An Example! él ellos ella ellas an a uds. ud.

  13. Él lava el carro. He is washing the car. (He washes the car.)

  14. To say “We speak” in Spanish • Start with hablar • Then drop the -ar habl ar 3. Then add the correct subject pronoun and ending. yo nosotros o amos tú vosotros as áis él ellos ella a an ellas uds. ud. An Example!

  15. Nosotras hablamos por teléfono. We speak on the phone. (We are talking on the phone.)

Hablar = to speak Nosotros hablamos= we speak Vosotros habláis= you all speak Ellos hablan= they speak Ellas hablan= they speak Uds. hablan= you all speak Yo hablo= I speak Tú hablas= you speak Él habla= he speaks Ella habla= she speaks Ud. habla= you speak (f) Let’s conjugate a verb in all its forms!
