  3. Metaphorical Thinking • Identifies problems and clarifies the meaning • Metaphors are used to generate alternative solutions • Occurs when a surprisingly imaginative connection is made between two ideas or images that are dissimilar • Comparisons that are obvious are NOT metaphors
